There are plenty of modern things that have ate into their real world counterparts. The reason those are not being brought up and stigmatized is because everyone is used to them and they are normalized. Right now, AI self care is novel so there is moral panic and pushback against it.
Is this not great for society? Maybe. Social media is shown to be harmful, for example. Is it going to change? No. So unless someone is presenting real solutions then it’s not really fair to tell the disadvantaged to not use the modern tool that helps them in their lives, or shame them for it just because we don’t understand it. I think everyone would agree there is not any real solution being proposed to “fix” society and make it so no one would want these digital substitutions.
