I work with a lot of lawyers at all levels from juniors, seniors associates and partners in all global law firms. Most of them don't realise that very issue. Usually law firms are relatively slow at jumping into new tech, but they are adopting Gen AI way too fast. My prediction is the problem will grow quickly making things untenable in ten to fifteen years, when most senior associates doing the bulk of the work, would actually never have drafted or reviewed documents without the help of AI, which will leave massive amounts of very niche knowledge gaps everywhere. In short 99% of legal situations will be resolved quickly and efficiently, and the 1%, the really important bits which really require intuition, deep knowledge, and experience, the stuff you pay the big bucks for, will be left to people incapable of handling them. Actually older retired partners and of counsel will be paid massively to handle those.
