\*EDITED: Current o3 model with Deep Research DOES work. Please expand this whole thread and see the sample chat and result that another user ran for me on ChatGPT o3 with Deep Research. It did the job! We ran that prompt in January 2024 with ChatGPT's best model and it hallucinated like crazy. That output was not usable. With o3 and Deep Research, it didn't hallucinate on the test chat at all, and did an overall excellent job. This was only one chat, but I need to qualify my post with this updated info. ORIGINAL COMMENT: Total bullshit\*. I’m a lawyer. All the top LLMs currently suck at legal research-based drafting. If you provide all the sources they need for a motion, then, yes, it’s true. But most motions and other briefs need research to find and cite case law (reported appellate court opinions that, together with statutes and regulations, are the law on a given subject). LLMs cannot do this kind of legal research yet. My firm uses LLMs for several things, but not drafting motions.
