I was an early enough adopter to Proton to bag just my first name as a username. Weirdly they always felt like a honey trap outfit and a bit too good to be true. Hard to put your finger on it.
But come on, the EU has a list of draft legislation to smash privacy that's as long as your arm. Even Telegram took off to Wild West Dubai to get away from privacy jurisdictions. Why not do that? Or Gibraltar?
