Another big question is cost. Like sure this is one ticket, but really if it were going to replace Devs, how much would it cost to run every ticket, story, etc? And do you really trust it? I wholeheartedly agree that AI hype is just another FOMO situation. In practice, it’s not really replacing people. Most companies don’t have the resources to properly invest in an actual DevOps team let alone a team dedicated to replacing all of their Developers with AI. And sure, there are plenty of companies building the AI for you, but this isn’t a Microsoft 365 subscription. This is gonna cost a fuck ton to do and do you really want to rely on AI when shit hits the fan? This post is just anecdotal evidence as well. I’ve seen firsthand many times where AI can’t solve the simplest fucking tasks. It’s great for automating mundane tasks. I mean even OP says it’s something that they can knock out in a hour. I see that as „Now you have an extra hour where you can do actual work rather than wasting it on a Jira ticket.”
