I don't think it matters much. And it should not matter much to you either. You are going to get a myriad of answer pro, neutral and against. Much like humans were not made to fly, women ride trains (because their uterus would fall off at speeds above 30 miles/hr), the internet would just be a fad, social media would die off quickly, and on and on and on. AI is here now, be it inference, word associations, whatever you want to call it/him/her/they, it is here. Is it artificial? Yes. Is it inteligent? As a large database trained on data by seemingly inteligent humans... yes/no/maybe? Who cares. It is a new technology in it's infancy and it will advance like any other technology. If a human wants to antropomorphise it, let them, if they want to use it as just a tool to help them with their jobs, homework, coding, let them. It's that person's decision to use it. Otherwise just be quiet and get on with life and enjoy it the way you want to enjoy, in your way and let others do what they want to do the way they want to do it. Edit: I understand that I may come across as a little dismissive of what seems to be real concerns on your part OP. You seem genuinely puzzled by what you are observing in the community, so a response that validates your observations while still making my points about technological adoption and personal choice may have been more constructive. But honestly, Reddit arguments rarely change anyone's mind anyway, so i believe my "live and let live" approach isn't terrible either.
