I have maybe a controversial take on this. There are some key realizations that become important. First, when a large number of people are replaced by machines and become redundant in the job market, they will no longer have the same earnings. Without those earnings, they will not participate in our economy as able consumers. This in turn means a bunch of businesses who cater to consumers directly or indirectly (read:all businesses) will now take a considerable hit in their earnings. They will then go bankrupt. In the global economy, some regions will regulate the use of AI, and this will prevent this from happening. Those regions will flourish relative to those that don't regulate AI. Beyond this it is really hard to predict what will happen. I think regulation is inevitable.
