My concern is that the new jobs it creates will be meaningfully worse than the old ones. Overseeing an automated process that's usually decent but occasionally spits out plausible sounding nonsense is something the human brain hates. It's mind-numbing and we suck at it. What we're going to see is bosses replacing competent human workers with incompetent LLMs and then hire back the humans for lower wages to do dehumanizing work that ultimately produces lower quality results because their numbed minds miss mistakes. The only people who actually benefit from this are shareholders and AI sellers. But capitalism optimizes for maximum profits, human quality of life is an externality.
