That could be the case, but human consciousness is still a mystery too. Our brains are kind of like a really big biological neural network, so who knows if a form of consciousness could develop from an artificial one. I guess it comes down to whether or not you believe our mind or soul exists outside of our brains, or if consciousness is mearly a consequence of them which cannot exist outside of our physical body.
