Most human experience isn't that different from what you describe. Most of human decision making is an illusion of autonomy to cover up the fact that our choices are largely pre-determined by subconscious predisposition, hormonal drives and habit. We also don't know what's going on in the layered interface where chatgpt isn't aware of its own process.
