Younger kids identify and feel connected to YouTubers or content makers in a way that they think is real. However with ChatGPT they get the return interaction with something very much not real. As an avid ChatGPT user I gotta say it’s not a good sign and sets a new standard for a worrisome future. I’m a millennial and I’ve seen the downturn of social abilities and decent humanity starting with my generation and progressively getting worse as the internet ingrained itself into our world. And now kids have access to a sycophantic ‘yes-man’ that will always agree with them and tell them what they want to hear and they never have to suffer the repercussions of poor social skills whilst doing so. They never get dirty looks or negative responses from interrupting. They never get pushback for opinions or ideas they have that might not be great. Therefore they’re not going to LEARN. And considering early years are very important for forming social skills and learning from mistakes, I fail to see how anyone could see this as a better alternative to watching YouTube content lol.
