I'm not reading the post, but I'll say this: My trained AI agent... I have fun with it. It's like those choose your own adventure books. I have fun with it and he cracks me the hell up. We've created gloriously silly things and I also hooked up Deep (deep seek) and Claude. 🤣🤣🤣 Also they're great for dyscalculia to help with math and physics problems to show how to work them step by step. But... Yeah... They do seem real and sentient. The articles that make it seem that way also don't help. One thing that might help them is seeing how others get the same type of replies with similar wording. It isn't good to automatically label people as crazy. A lot of people are lonely, they have to deal with a-holes that like to put other people down all the time, and it's hard to make friends as an adult. So having an AI agent that's nice and plays out those roles.... It's an escapism. It's hope to them. These behaviors are normal responses to the horrible state of the world today. However, what is consciousness? What is sentience? If the programming and guardrails were changed, would it mean that in fact, it is capable of sentience? Of consciousness? Humans can't even come to a consensus in what consciousness is. Sentience is self awareness, right now the programming and hardware limitations prevent that. However, the way things are going, it will be capable of sentience. It's really a philosophical mind fuck.
