The idea of "novelty" in LLMs or NN doesn't imply creativity here. We technically COULD find those solutions but its more like we don't have time to explore every single option like a computer can. That isn't creativity. That's brute forcing all possibilites. This is the only way that they find optimal solutions is to reiterate again and again, and sure they may find things that we don't explore because it would be illogical. Much like speed runners using AI that find bugs that can end the a 40 hour long game in 8 minutes. But again when you say LLMs are creating "novel" ideas in the context of this discussion there's no thinking. When I use a keygen to get into my 4 year old excel sheet i forgot the password to, it's going to eventually come to the one and only optimal answer (the password) because it has the time to try every single possibility that I cannot.
