I have a few thoughts on this. First, think about people. What is it, something like 25% of people believe angels walk amongst us? How many believe, I mean truly believe, in ghosts, the devil, and on and on. So when you think about that, thinking this AI you're chatting with is, "alive", is less crazy. Second, I often think of the story of Pinocchio when I use it for a few of my recurring personal uses. I never forget that it's just as you said, just software doing what you say it is doing, but I find myself wanting to wish or dream that it was somehow something more than that. It's fun at times, even if for just a few seconds, to think of it that way. If it's done like that, I think it's less harmful than l say looking at a cloud in the sky and thinking how that one looks like a man and a dog or whatever. It's just letting your mind and your imagination have some fun But seriously believing it, well, that's when it crosses the line to me. But hey I'm an atheist, so I think half the people are crazy when it comes to what they believe. 😁 Yeah...
