Because some people have a savior complex and need to feel morally superior by ‘protecting’ others from boogeymen they barely understand. If someone wants to spend their time and money building or using AI, that’s their business—not anyone else's. Freedom cuts both ways. They don’t get to preach about liberty while trying to control what others build. I agree, people should really learn to mind their own damn apocalypse.
