Paraphrasing Cory Doctorow here: "AI doesn't have to be good enough to replace you at your job. It just has to be good enough to convince your boss that it can replace you at your job." If your boss isn't a dev or experienced enough with your system to not tell it apart from a black box (inputs in, outputs out, no care about the internals) they're probably fine with replacing you with an AI and selling it to their boss as a cost saving, especially if they fall prey to the hype cycle.
