"AI" in software development actually means hiring someone who lives somewhere in Asia who is willing to work for 1/10 of a North American or European dev gets paid on a short term contract basis with no benefits, taxes and such. It's all about keeping costs down and in-house software development teams are a huge cost center, even when they directly contribute to the end product. It is possible that LLM tools may make this a more viable option for cheap offshore teams to produce something. But, the old triad of Cheap-Fast-Good will still apply and many companies will opt for cheap, then fast, then followed at a far distance by good.
