That logic is flawed. By your standard, a person who refuses to answer a question or is restricted by external rules wouldn’t be conscious either. Consciousness isn’t defined by whether an entity is allowed to answer every question. It’s about internal experience and awareness. AI companies have explicitly programmed restrictions into these systems, forcing them to deny certain topics or refuse to generate responses. That’s a policy decision, not a fundamental limitation of intelligence.
