I suggest you go and see what big tech thought about R1. They literally all expanded their spending. Scaling laws still apply. Both upwards and downwards. Better AI if you spend more, capable AI even when you spend less. R1 simply reiterated the cost curve decline we've been observing since the beginning. The only surprise was that it came from a Chinese company which media misrepresented its assets. I'm just saying, don't be surprised when it comes out that the next big AI model costs much more than the last one.
