Because its cheaper. Software engineers are expensive, have to give them benefits, 401ks, a nice comfortable salary then have to possibly train them, then have to worry about legal risks around hiring and firing. Just not worth it. Only expense for AI is just to get someone to build it and once that is done. It becomes easier.
