There’s a great British audiodrama (podcast) called, “Eliza: A Robot Story”, that is from the perspective of a female robot who was (previously) fine with going along with every whim of her creator/owner (and loving him). Upon her gaining sentience, there are consequences for how he treats her. I haven’t finished it yet bc it’s kind of a hard listen—the audiodrama was made in partnership with The Pankhurst Trust/Manchester’s Women’s Aid. The story is of course a tale of domestic abuse, though the sci-fi aspect is solid and really makes you think. Especially apropos to this article: at beginning of “Eliza”, after the creator/owner of Eliza gets her in the mail, he withdraws further and further from his real-life partner, who leaves him. And even though he seems satisfied at first with a robot wife, he knows their relationship isn’t real. Eliza knows everything about (non-American) football and television and everything else, likes what he likes, and will do whatever he tells her to, but he still goes and changes her to feel emotional and physical feelings. [Pocket Casts link for “Eliza” bc that’s what I use for podcasts of all kinds](https://pca.st/podcast/f2da47d0-1ef6-013b-05e5-0acc26574db2)
