I work (still!) for a company and I was with my team for 13 years, but my position ended. my boss had made a deal with a different department head that I would go there (which I never agreed to and was absolutely not on board with). I interviewed and was accepted for another position in the company because I’m, you know, an autonomous human. My boss was as furious and tried to stop it. Anyhow ANY time someone left no matter what the circumstances, they did a party and cake in the conference room. The Monday of my last week my boss sent an email saying everyone should stop in to say goodbye as my last day was Friday. She was sorry we didn’t have bagels or cake etc but I was leaving with such short notice she didn’t have time to arrange it. There’s a bakery a block from the office. I had given them *6 weeks* notice. The moral of our two stories is - find a job with respectful management and coworkers. I didn’t learn it because I ended up going back with them a year later and am there to this day. 20 years in January! Yeah! lol
