Writing code has never been the actual goal of software engineers. Shipping readable, maintainable, and scalable software is the actual goal. We build code on top of millions of lines of existing code in libs and operating systems in order to speed up that delivery. LLMs are no different, just another tool to speed up the process. Contemplate what your actual role is in the new paradigm because writing code was only a means to an end never the goal. AI very obviously boosts productivity otherwise you'd be coding more manually, so it isn't going anywhere and burying your head in the sand at some other company that ignores it is not going to be a good place to be career wise.
