The difference: even if we do not work and sit on our bum all day we still get healthcare, a roof over our heads, a few hundred bucks for necessities each month. Also education is free and our parents didn’t sink the cost of a house into it.
And if your education didn’t work out in the end, the “Arbeitsamt “ (employment office) offers you free reeducation. Example: 6 month SAP developer training and certification which would cost you 80K € if payed out of pocket (friend of mine sitting in one of those atm)
