As is sadly evidenced by South Korea's skyrocketing suicide rate, South Korean society places immense pressure on people to be the perfect student, get the perfect job, have a perfect body, and the opportunities are quite limited in the end, especially as the population ages and continues to concentrate into Seoul. Just listening to people I know who have gone to school or worked in Korea talk about it is mind-boggling, it's as if they purposedly designed an entire system to break people.
