You and I both know the pentagon didn't even for a moment seriously entertain the idea of not developing autonomous weapons. They are just trying to slowly ease everyone into it so they can look as though they ever gave two fucks about ethics. There was no "hard decision" the pentagon made their decision a long time ago. Did anyone seriously believe for a second they weren't gonna put guns on these "robot dogs" the military keeps talking about? They really make it a point to call it a dog as much as possible too as some half assed form of trying to condition everybody into viewing it as something friendly.
