An interesting case study here is the autonomous weapons we've already had around for a hundred years - landmines. A landmine is a leave-behind, lethal weapon that can (through usually some very simple logic) make a decision to kill somebody on its own. How are more advanced autonomous lethal munitions and systems different, ethically? Serious question.
