the title of the hearing like all of the other hundreds of hearings on the topic are senseless. you can't regulate ai you regulate how ai is used in society. Like you don't regulate cars or guns you regulate what type of cars and guns are allowed in society and how they are used. Unless talking about fully sentient ai there's no point in talking about "regulating ai" rather than regulating the "usage of ai". Anyways politicians should be far more concerned with building a new civilization that includes ai. similarly how feudalism fell in part due to the industrial revolution/printing press etc so will what we call liberalism(democracy plus capitalism will fall) since this type of social system is not really compatible with ai.
