Copyright was created explicitly to ensure a class of knowledge workers keeps existing. It gives them an economic incentive to invest years into perfecting their craft. A photographer being able to profit from their work is arguably a net benefit to society, because they too needed to learn how to compose, adjust color balance, and dozens of other subtle details that separate a professional from an amateur. AI use can be a lot more involved than typing a short prompt in a box, but it's best to err on the side of not granting copyright, because we can see what happens when you let the cat out of the bag.
