It's pretty inaccurate even for writing code. I tried using it the other day for a simple task (retrieving a list of fields from the Jira API, flattening the json response into a csv, and saving the result) and it messed up every single part of the ask. I think we're going to see a repeat of the post-dotcom outsourcing craze. Companies will try replacing engineers with a generative AI tool and eventually realize that the cost savings doesn't justify the decrease in productivity. Long term, this will lead to increased demand for developers to fix shitty AI coded systems.
