I think we should just be looking at ChatGPT and AI transformer models as just the next level up from high-level programming languages; this is just like one level above Python, where you can give human-readable instructions that require even far less coding know-how to be able to write applications.
Thus the "programming language" just becomes plain English. You still have to know how to give quality prompts, but after a few iterations even that may not be necessary as it'll be polished enough to make amazing applications without having to learn programming concepts. You can however learn them optionally, in order to gain a deeper appreciation for how things work under the hood - and this would advance your prowess as a computer scientist.
The concept of a "programmer" therefore shifts, whereas the skill set that you have gets a little bit closer to that of a "computer scientist" because you have more knowledge of how relatively lower-level code is actually written.
It's sort of like the difference between a driver and a mechanic?? I don't know if that analogy works, because both a driver and a mechanic work with cars but the mechanic is a specialist who understands how cars function under the hood, whereas the driver is someone who uses the car to get themselves or their passengers somewhere.
The mechanic can also get into a car and drive it, but if the car breaks down in the middle of the road the mechanic probably has a much better chance of being able to do repairs on the road than having to call someone to come and tow their car to the shop.
