ChatGPT affects programmers in two potential ways: 1) Passionate programmer uses the tool to accelerate the rate of their learning and fast track expertise acquisition 2) Programmer uses the tool to largely replace all their coding, and makes themselves a conduit for AI coding who only concerns themselves with basic validation. Truly, the individual situates themselves in one of these two roles inevitably. Both roles will be needed in the future, to be fair. For me, it's accelerated my education in ways that make me giddy, and I love it.
