On one hand I deeply admire the EUs commitment to privacy and protecting their people, but on the other hand I see this as yet another technology that will catapult countries like US and China even further ahead of Europe in terms of relative productivity and power if the EU wastes time wringing their hands and delaying the inevitable. I'm not a fan of AI for many reasons, but the mindset of most people I've talked to is either leverage those competitive advantages or somebody else will.
