Admittedly not an ML / AI person but here's my uneducated take on why I'm absolutely not worried. I asked GPT4 to plan an efficient sailing route to circumnavigate the planet. I gave it the following parameters. Outremer 51 catamaran, starting in Los Angeles, crew of 4 people, avoid the suez canal. It routed me south to the panama canal, east through the caribbean, then directly east to Africa, then south around the horn, then north east through the indian ocean to northern australia, then east through the south pacific and french polynesia and north east back to Los Angeles. The entire sailing route was against the established global wind patterns. I asked it to repeat the same query only this time taking global wind patterns into account to allow for the fastest transit only using sails. It returned the exact same results.
