In addition to this, if you think about what these AIs are being trained on and how it affects what they're producing - they're going to start training on AI generated content, which is just going to very quickly make it worse. There will be need for humans to continue generating new content to feed the beasts. Weirdly, I could see people producing handmade art getting paid a whole bunch more because an AI could be trained on what they're doing and give the 'owner' of that AI a leg up on all the others - just spitballing here, not necessarily a prediction. It's been clear for a while the difference between a thoughtful article and a hastily generated one. I think with AI, that difference is even more striking. Sure, it can give good answers, but even on short stuff I'm finding myself wanting to inject some soul in to what ChatGPT spits out. It's really, REALLY good, but it all has a very similar tone in my opinion. Not in the 'literary' sense of tone since you can specify different 'tones' - but in the sense that it lacks a 'spark.'
