It has nothing to do with any sort of white-savior-whatever bullshit you're referring to. This happens well beyond Africa. Russia is much the same. Only a small elite profits from the country's vast natural resources. In fact, it's also like this in most Western countries but in places like Africa it's simply that much worse. Weak governments and rule of law. Little oversight. Please do travel around Africa a little bit and let me know what you find out. If you're under any illusion that corruption is not more widespread in African countries, I've got a bridge to sell you.
