Wow looking at 2018 data from another website its a huge increase in Co2 emissions for China but it seems the criteria for this is much broader.
China held 27% of world's emissions in 2019 compared to 28% 2018.
while the US held 11% of world's emissions in 2019 compared to 15% in 2018.
Both countries increased CO2 emissions but China massively more than the US
