This was a whole topic in An Inconvenient Sequel. If developed nations are incapable of acting on their own domestic policy, what right do they have to export this idea abroad to developing nations. The moral argument is clear when it comes to climate change, but until developed nations rein in their own fossil fuel use, we have no right to go around the world and tell developing nations how operate. Especially when they've been held back as a direct result of western imperialism.
