This is causing real harm that must be addressed now” I do agree that facial recognition is a slippery slope when it comes to privacy and I’m against it but it seems the author is coming at this from a different perspective that may not be totally grounded in fact. I find it hard to argue that training these facial recognition models are systemically racist and this whole thing shouldn’t quite touch back on race. This whole privacy concern kind of affects everyone and it’s more so related to trusting big companies doing the right thing with a lot more of your data. Ai models trained on large datasets are not inherently racist. I just wanted to address that before someone else goes reading off that article and thinks machines are trying to single out a subset of people. Source: not a white male and work in the data sector
