Right now we should already be preparing ourselves for a world where human labor won’t be necessary, because it’s definitely going to be the reality pretty soon. I develop safety software for “mobile assistants”, which is basically the industry 4.0 term for AGVs with load handling units, and right now we’re developing and implementing concepts for autonomous factories where there isn’t a single human worker on site. This already exists and Covid-19 is increasing business owners’ motivation to invest even more in this direction. I never had as much work as I do now since this whole pandemic began. We have entire plants where the “mobile assistants” take the raw materials, make the product and load it into a truck to go to the customer without any human intervention at all. Governments should be already developing models for a society where people will be simply given what they want or need without having to work for it. Sooner or later it’s going to be the reality.
