The issue with your assumption 1, AI in its simplest forms in fact does control humanity, you are correct in staying that much of our thoughts and feelings are being manipulated in algorithms such as those on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, but here this AI is not autonomous. It is controlled by humans who set the desired outcome. In this case AI is only a tool and not an intelligence. You wouldn't say that the AK47 is one of the most notorious killers in the world, would you?
