Yeah, it seems backwards to me. . .the police/authorities are the people I would expect to use any and all technologies available to them to protect and serve the population. . .that includes using facial recognition to identify/track suspects. It would be businesses that I would want to ban from using facial recognition on the public. Mostly, because there would be very little oversight in how that information is used and would be sold to the highest bidder. In contrast, the authorities should have a lot of rules and regulations governing it's use and who can access it. It would probably be limited to checking if a face matches that of a suspect's. . .not every single citizen.
