The danger is the escalation of this, and how obsolete any other military force will become and the following imbalance of power due to which side developed the best robots. And given the quickness of reaction in these things, one side that sets their robots to first identifying whether a person/robot is a threat or not before opening fire will be utterly chanceless against robots that just kill anything that moves. And they'll aim and shoot almost instantly. A future with facial recognition systems, walking robots with firearms, communications systems (internet, phones, and so on) where everyones' activities are being watched..... it's a really dark future with practically no possibility for the population to form a meaningful resistance to an opressive regime. It's just bad, really bad. We need rules for all of these things.
