The police have shown they can't be trusted with DNA databases, there's no reason to assume they could be trusted with facial recognition tech either. For those out of the loop, DNA tests are not 100% accurate. They're like 99% accurate. Which is fine when you found a suspect and test their DNA. The problem is that they take DNA from everyone, and then where there is a crime and they find DNA they run it through the database. Well if they have 10,000 people in the database, then 99% accuracy means they'll match with 100 people. So they can just pick any of them, drag them into court, and tell the jury that DNA is 99% accurate so this must be the guy.
