This is used by a city in Oregon. It scans previous mug shots for matches from video footage and gives police potential matches. The police then use these potential matches to manually confirm the people. We literally already do this already manually. A police office will thumb through pages of mug shots to find someone that looks like them from video. It literally just automates a human process. People are thinking that police are snatching people up using facial recognition with no forethought. That's not true, it's just making a manual process quicker and far more accurate. For people complaining about accuracy, you can't compare it 100%, you have to compare it with what a human will do (because that's what these cities are forcing).
