According to wikipedia, [the US' *territorial emissions* (2014) were about 16.5 metric tons per capita, while Kenya's were 0.3 metric tons per capita](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions_per_capita). (Though keep in mind that extreme carbon inequality holds within the US as within nearly every industrialized country- [the top 10% of high income, high emitting Americans had a collective carbon footprint as big as the collective bottom half of all Americans](https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/bufq8c/schwarzenegger_teams_up_with_activist_greta/epdrwfa/)) Considering that the world must reach 0 metric tons per capita in the next few decades (with the industrialized nations decarbonizing even sooner than the developing world) [to prevent global heating from exceeding the very dangerous levels](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxDCQkrRJmA), I would say that Kenya, being much closer to this goal than any industrialized nation, has a great deal to teach us all and we would be wise to learn from them with a spirit of humility.
Territorial emissions do not show the complete picture, however. They only show what carbon emissions are produced on a nation's territory. In reality, a fair look at the carbon ledger is even more damning for the industrialized countries- [**even the so called "climate progressive countries" such as UK, Denmark, France, and Sweden**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BZFvc-ZOa8&t=11m53s). Being wealthy, they import a huge amount of their carbon footprint for domestic consumption, while a significant part of the developing world's carbon footprint is exported to service the consumption of the industrialized world. The UK claims a nearly 40% in emissions reductions since 1990, but when these factors are taken into account, it is more like 10%- a whole 0.4% reduction per year. A similar picture holds across all the "climate progressive" countries.
