I'm in the UK so different climate but my garden is alive with stuff all year round.
Spring has literally thousands of bumblebees, honey bees and even cute things called beefly's. So many hoverflies too. There's always a couple handfuls of butterflies at any given moment, about 30 damselflies around the pond and in summer 3-4 dragonflies. There's a million frogs and toads (gets hard to walk at night) and even found a rare stag beetle (her mandibles were all caught up in spider web, so I spent a good hour carefully removing it, then gave her some banana and put her by an old rotted log) There's little field mice (they don't hurt) squirrels, a hundred or so different birds that visit daily and...way too many spiders, which I usually stick up in the dark top end of the garden away from the bee's and stuff, so they can eat the gnats.
There's a couple of foxes that visit every night, and leave me a nice little gift on the grass... and with some solar lights there's a ton of moths.
It's changed though, I haven't seen any hedgehogs for years, people said it was the badgers eating them, but I haven't seen them for years either, when there use to be tons of both every night.
Wildflowers work well, Lavenders work amazing for bee's...the only problem is slugs and snails, too big for the frogs to eat and I don't use poison.
growing veg can be a bit hard since the caterpillars will eat the lettuce, while slugs eat the strawberries and...everything. Got 5 apple and pear trees too, but if you don't pick them early then the wasps come in large numbers.
if you build it, they will come.
