So if a mad scientist produces an army of robot assassins and unleashed them, the ensuing carnage would be blamed on the robots? This makes no sense.
What about driverless cars? If manufacturers cannot be held accountable for their malfunctioning then there will be less need to thoroughly troubleshoot them before unleashing them on the public.
