Why are they working so long weeks? Are they expected to produce 1.7x of what we are producing? Is it purely a cultural thing? I.e that people just hang out at work, and pretend to be working when no-ones looking. I thought it was known by now, that after a certain point, work efficiency/yield goes down. Even the tech people, investment bankers, and consultants, that usually work brutal hours, are not working 100% all their hours. Lots of time they just hang around, wait for something to happen, or wait for someone else to finish something.
