This bill essentially sacrifices safety standards in order to get cars on the road faster. It prevents states from requiring more stringent safety standards. This bill is a bad idea. I'm not buying a self driving car unless it is built at least to the same safety standards as all other vehicles. I'm also not buying a self driving car that doesn't have any human controls. I'd like to drive myself sometimes. EDIT: I'm not against self driving cars and I know humans can be shitty drivers. I'm in favor of self driving cars. I just want them to be tested thoroughly to make sure they can drive properly (and better than humans). If you don't test a machine, how can you be sure it will do what it's supposed to do? When lives are at stake, testing should be thorough.
